Quarter beef share packaged in a freezer for Pocatello Idaho families

No Chest Freezer? No Problem.

You don't need a massive garage freezer to eat like a king.

A Quarter Share takes up about 4 cubic feet of space. Think of it as the size of 2 milk crates or roughly 4-5 standard grocery bags.

If your kitchen freezer is relatively empty right now, this will fit on the top shelf with room to spare.

How Much Does a Quarter Cow Cost?

We believe in total transparency. Here is how the math works.

🍌 The "Hanging Weight" Rule

Buying a share is a lot like buying a banana at the grocery store.

  1. The Banana (Hanging Weight): You pay $5.25 per pound for the weight of the whole banana, peel included.
  2. The Fruit (Take-Home Meat): After the butcher trims the bones and fat (the peel), you take home about 60-65% of that weight.

Note: Just like you don't pay the cashier for the banana peel you throw away, you do NOT pay the Butcher for the bone and fat they discard. You only pay the Butcher for the processing of the final hanging weight.

The Result: You pay roughly the price of ground beef for premium Ribeyes.

Why are there two costs?

We operate under "Custom Exempt" laws. You buy the animal from us, and hire the butcher to process it.

Two Separate Checks:

  1. The Farm Check: You pay Old Tom Pastures for the animal (minus your deposit).
  2. The Butcher Check: You pay the butcher directly for the cutting & wrapping.

Common Questions

A quarter beef share takes up approximately 4 cubic feet of freezer space—about the size of 2 milk crates. It fits in most standard kitchen freezers, so you don't typically need a dedicated chest freezer for a quarter share.

Yes. Our beef is never fed grain. This results in higher levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), and vitamins A and E compared to conventional feedlot beef.

Pickup is at our local butcher. We will email you the exact location and hours as we get closer to the harvest date. You will pay the butcher their processing fee directly at the time of pickup.
